Dia de los Muertos Celebration!

We cooked the goat for 15 hours in our pit roast and it turned out beautiful. The meat peeled right off the bone. It was quite the process to get it to work, but after a few changes it cooked just right.

Santa came over to teach everyone how to make tortillas and tamales. Everything was delicious and i have so much respect for anyone that makes these....it was a form of art. Santa was patient with us and helped us all out.

The alter turned out great! Great energy around it with photos of family members and little trinkets and a poem/ prayer.

Daily chores

The kids were fishing in the pond trying to catch catfish.

We made a hugelkultur! its layered cardboard, sand, hardwood, compost, soil, and then straw. The logs help to raise the bed an hold water. The shape helps to increase edge on the bed to promote natural processes of competition.

We got to see the moon rising!

We're getting pretty good at milking the goats!

Chris choppin down the tree. The yard looks weird now that it's gone...

Sparkroot Farm is an amazing place! Joe and I feel so welcome here and always have plenty to do. This farm is all about permaculture and finding ways to make the problem the solution. Chris and Alisa are what Joe and I would call humanaimatarians. They have an unconditional love for people and animals and the planet in general. They are a wonderful family full of great ideas and energy and it's wonderful to be a part of what they are doing here. :))) More to come on Sparkroot farm!!!
